Still Liking This Obama Guy

If we have to have a Democrat, I think I would be just fine with Obama.

I like what he's saying about how he thinks unconventionally and can move us out of partisan bickering. He's right when he says the way ahead is to break with conventional thinking and ideological poles. Conventional thinking for a Democrat means thinking like a Democrat; leaving behind ideological extremes for a Democrat means moving away from the progressive end and going rightward.

Which is exactly what Democrats should be doing, absolutely.

"Ooh, snap!" as the Kids These Days Might Say

Live blogging the Iowa debate:

Miss Romney just gave Obama a nice little bitch slap. "He must be confused... in his first week, he's going to meet with our enemies; then, he'll follow up by invading our allies." Very slick, little missy! Obama got all that attention for his foreign policy speech -- way to put him in his place by linking it up with that naive little moment from the Democrat debate.

By the way, which one is Tancredo and which one is Huckabee? Does anyone know? Does anyone care?

He Did It Again

"Who can unify the country, so that we're not just talking about Democrats and Republicans but we're talking about Americans." Yes, yes -- I'm liking this Obama. I don't think he's that blue after all.

You Know, I'm Liking This Obama Fellow

I'm not going to lose, but if I did have to lose to a Pussycrat, I think I wouldn't mind losing to Obama. The more I listen to him in this live debate on CNN, the more I hear him hedging his language. You notice he doesn't go right for the classic Democrat answer to a question -- he kind of nods in the direction of the other candidates' answer and then he says things like "we need a lot of approaches."

And he just praised Reagan. Did you hear that?

I'm liking this guy. And his record has some nice Republican themes: voting for the anti-class action bill, and voting to kill an amendment to the bankruptcy bill that would have capped credit-card interest rates at 30 percent.

I think he's getting a pass from the left because he's a pretty face or something. I can't figure out otherwise why he gets painted as a liberal. That John Edwards -- now that's a progressive. I shudder to think about all the poor people getting my tax dollars for food stamps and healthcare and whatnot if there's a President Edwards.

The Court Is Great, But...

...it really should hold back a bit during an election season. This Supreme Court decision on the use of race by school districts in deciding which kids get to go to which schools -- well, now, I don't pretend to understand it all, but I know there's lots of liberals up in arms about it, so it must be good. And before that, they got our religious folks all excited about the partial birth abortion ruling.

Sure, keep it up, Scalito. Good stuff. But let's not be rolling back on race stuff when we get the election season underway, OK? The last thing we need is for all these decisions to remind the lefties how much they have at stake in a president who gets to pick who's on the Supreme Court.

I don't want to wake up some day and find the blacks and the feministas got together and got out the vote for Hillabama.
